The final part of my Premier League Preview focussing on the clubs fighting to avoid relegation.

14th - Bournemouth

I think Bournemouth are another team that have done some great business this summer. They also have an excellent manager in Eddie Howe and I was tempted to put them in the 'mid-table safety' section but there is a chance they could be battling with the other six teams here to beat the drop. In Jordon Ibe they have a very promising winger from Liverpool who looks to have an England future ahead of him if his development continues as it should. Hopefully unlike his predecessors Allardyce will look at players from other clubs outside the top six or seven in the table. Another promising young player they've signed is Lewis Cook from Leeds United who has played for England up to the U19 squad and the U21 call up must be around the corner. Nathan Ake, on loan from Chelsea, impressed at Watford last season on his last loan spell and should help shore up a back line that is short on centre backs although he can play left back and central midfield. Howe is in his second spell at the club, returning in October 2012 after he previously managed them from December 2008 to January 2011 in his maiden outing as a manager. He impressed so much in his first season in the Premier League last season that his name was mentioned in the race to replace Roy Hodgson. The Cherries should be safe this season but maybe need a top striker and centre back support before the end of the month.

15th – Watford

Watford are another club with a new manager as Walter Mazzarri joins having last managed Inter Milan in 2014. He has also managed Napoli, Sampdoria, Reggina, Livorno, Pistoiese and Acireale – all in Italy. In fifteen years of management with those clubs he won the Coppa Italia in 2012 with Napoli and was runner-up in the Serie A with them in 2013. He left for Inter soon after. Their squad is one of the most multi-national in the league and is littered with purchases from Udinese and Granada as the clubs are all financially linked. Their stand out player last season was Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo and if he can repeat that form the goals he and Troy Deeney score can keep the Hornets in the top division. I don't know too much about a lot of their signings (to the point where I considered the line 'will Isaac be a Success?' but I have come across Christian Kabasele and Juan Camilo Zuniga before who I believe will strengthen their defence.

16th – Swansea City

I have to admit I do love the Swansea City story, their rise through the divisions since 2005 to the Premier League in 2011 and the fact that their Supporters Society plays such a big part in the club making it a club with true fan involvement. Unfortunately since the reigns of Brendan Rodgers and Michael Laudrup I feel the club has lost momentum and maybe that was partly down to the inexperience of former manager Gary Monk. It is now Francesco Guidolin's job to stop the rot and turn the tide along with many other popular phrases. His job is already harder with the loss of Andre Ayew and Ashley Williams however it will be interesting to see how new strikers Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston settle into the Premier League. The 60 year-old Italian Guidolin has been in management in his home country since 1986 at clubs including Palermo, Udinese, Atalanta, Parma and Genoa but has only worked outside Italy once at Monaco for a year 2005-06.

Ins = Borja Baston – Atletico Madrid - £15m, Leroy Fer – Queens Park Rangers - £4.75m, Fernando Llorente – Sevilla – Undisclosed, Mike van der Hoorn – Ajax – Undisclosed, Tyler Reid – Manchester United – Undisclosed, Mark Birighitti – Newcastle Jets – Free, George Byers – Watford – Free, Outs = Andre Ayew – West Ham United - £20.5m, Ashley Williams – Everton - £12m, Alberto Paloschi – Atalanta - £6m, Eder – Lille - £3.4m, Raheem Hanley – Northampton Town

17th – West Bromwich Albion

So far West Brom have only made one dip into the transfer market and that is for Scottish winger Matt Phillips. For the last few seasons I've predicted West Brom to be relegated only for them to stay up so this year I'm putting them in the last survival spot in the hope that they drop. I don't know why I don't like the Baggies but I just don't. I do however like Tony Pulis and he is the perfect manager for any club in the lower half of the Premier League. He did a fantastic job at Stoke City from 2006 to 2013 before Mark Hughes (in my opinion) took them to the next level then kept Crystal Palace in the league before joining West Brom. Looking at the squad it does seem thin and has some particularly ageing players like Gareth MacAuley (36) and Jonas Olsson (33). They also have to resolve the issue of Saido Berahino who seems intent of leaving the club but as yet there seems to be no firm buyer on the table.

Ins = Matt Phillips – Queens Park Rangers - £5.5m Outs = Anders Lingaard – Preston North End – Free, Josh Ezewele – Yeovil Town – Free, Victor Anichebe – Released, Stephane Sessegnon - Released

18th - Sunderland

They narrowly survived last season but will Sunderland be as lucky this time around? They've shored the defence with Papa Djilobodji from Chelsea and Paddy McNair from Manchester United and have just secured Adnan Januzaj on loan from United. If the Black Cats can add a striker or two to their roster then that will help their chances as that seems to be the weak spot in their team with only Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini. New manager David Moyes is determined to prove he is the manager that clubs wanted when he was at Everton rather than the man sacked from Manchester United after less than a year in the seat. Personally I think he was always set up to fail at United and he is a better manager than he was in that torrid year. Whether he can keep Sunderland up for another year though I'm not so sure. That could be as big a test as any he's had before.

Ins = Papa Djilobodji – Chelsea - £8m, Paddy McNair – Manchester United - £5.5m, Donald Love – Manchester United - £5.5m, Adnan Januzaj – Manchester United - Loan Outs = Santiago Vergini – Boca Juniors - £770k, Emmanuel Giaccherini – Napoli – Undisclosed, Steven Fletcher – Sheffield Wednesday – Free, Danny Graham – Blackburn Rovers – Free, Martin Smith – Kilmarnock – Free, Mikael Mandron – Eastleigh – Free, Liam Agnew – Released, Steven Harper – Released, Wes Brown - Released

19th - Burnley

I've mentioned a few managers that I'm a fan of and Sean Dyche is another one. I remember him from his playing days when he captained Chesterfield to the FA Cup sem-final in 1997 he first caught my attention in a managerial role in around 2013 when in charge or Burnley. I recall watching his post-match interviews on the Football League Show and thinking how refreshing his approach was and that he didn't come out with the cliches that so many managers do. He didn't keep Burnley up the last time they were in the BPL and may now do it this time however despite me predicting them for the drop again I hope I am wrong. They still have some great players from that last foray including Sam Vokes, George Boyd and Ashley Barnes. They also have Andre Gray where they used to have Danny Ings and the former Brentford and Luton Town striker scored 23 goals for Burnley last season on the way to the title (the highest in the division at 25 including 2 for Brentford at the start of the season).

20th – Hull City

Whoever comes in to replace Steve Bruce really has a job on their hands. Starting the season with no manager, a squad depleted even further by injuries and reportedly little or no money for transfers there is no wonder they are favourites for the drop. If the new man keeps Hull City in the Premier League it will be a fantastic achievement (I was going to say a miracle but it seems a tad harsh). They have some good players but a number of them are the wrong side of 30 and their defence certainly doesn't look very pacey. I do like Tom Huddlestone and Abel Hernandez though so hopefully they can be the leading stars for the team.
